Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Music therapy is an incredibly diverse field that can be appropriate for a wide variety of needs. Not sure if music therapy is right for you? We would be more than happy to talk to you about ways music therapy could enhance your life - for free!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. According to the American Music Therapy Association, music therapy has been proven to help promote wellness, manage stress, alleviate pain, express feelings, enhance memory, improve communication, promote physical rehabilitation, and more! Music therapists are trained to tailor their sessions to meet their client's individual needs and preferences.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. If you are looking to work with a music therapist, make sure they are board-certified - (indicated by an MT-BC credential). This means that they have completed training in a credentialed program and have passed a board examination. This is important because a music therapy training program includes coursework in psychology, counseling, human development, and ethics, as well as traditional music courses. A music therapist who is not board-certified may not have this training, and therefore may not be able to meet your needs effectively.
