Introduction: Our services stand out (People tell us) because Our unique style, customer service & quality artwork, that's it ! (Est. 1983) Jose Solis was born in the colonial City of San Luis Potosi (Mexico), home of many famous artists, he grew up admiring the work of Mexican muralists like Diego Rivera, Orozco and Siqueiros. At age 14, while an art student he was admitted as an apprentice at a sign & commercial art studio learning brush lettering and mural design. In the 70s he became famous painting airbrushed murals on custom vans while studying at Customizing Center near Los Angeles, CA. his work in the style of Frank Frazetta was showed on National magazines like Hot Rodding. In 1983 He founded Creative Art Services in Portland, Oregon. That same year The Oregonian published a full page article and photos of his original work a 70’x15’ oil painting on concrete he did at Ascension Catholic church in SE Portland. One of his first commissions was to paint a large Oregon Lottery wheel for a TV commercial. To this date his work has included: Scenic painting for many feature films including the stop animation movie “Coraline” by Laika Entertainment, etc., Set design and Art direction for Nike, Adidas, Doc Martens, Oregon Lottery Portland Trailblazers, etc. Including video & photography projects, among others. Mural art & custom displays in museums: * National Steinbeck Center in Salinas, CA. * Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in Mcminnville, Or. * End of the Oregon Trail museum in Oregon, City * Old Mission San Miguel a National Historic Landmark * Churches, Schools, Restaurants, Public and private buildings & Residences, etc. Jose’s work has been recognized for his unique style with awards including: Silver Medal Award at the International Film & Television Festival of New York, Best Spiritual Documentary Judge’s Award winner and People’s Choice Award Winner, & more.

Jose is an incredibly talented artist and a terrific person to collaborate with. He painted beautiful lettering on the exterior of our building, along with a large-scale mural for our nonprofit organization that turned out far better than we could have ever imagined. His attention to detail was impressive. Jose has a fine-tuned eye for beautiful, aesthetic work and completed the project from start to finish in a very timely, yet sincere and thoughtful manner. Part of what made Jose so wonderful to work with was his genuine passion for his work. He does not approach projects as just another business arrangement', but rather an opportunity for him to share his gifts with our city, and this shines through clearly in the end product his work has so much heart! Jose listened carefully to our vision and created his plans accordingly, while adding considerable value to our project by sharing his own artistic perspective and recommendations. From the signage lettering, to the mural surrounding our main entrance, our building looks stunning and neighbors, donors, clients, and passerby have been sharing their positive feedback from the day Jose began. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
About my pricing, please note that a project is not priced on wall size but rather priced on amount of detail involved: When a client calls me and gives me an idea of a certain budget she or he have in mind, I not only try my best to work with their fixed budget but also give them additional options to upgrade at a later date.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When a new customer calls I always try my best to find out about what they have in mind for a mural, a detailed description of their concept, reference material like drawings or photos helps me to come up with an estimate to create something beautiful and original for their walls for them to enjoy and be proud of showing to family and friends !
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
At age 14 I had studied artistic drawing and was admitted as an apprentice at a commercial art studio, some of my work included being an assistant to Mural restoration professionals doing lettering and graphics on walls for a few years.
