Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Keep your invention details secret until you have talked with a knowledgeable patent attorney of your choice. Because intellectual property laws are complex, it is important to fully understand your potential rights before you disclose your intellectual property. And, talking to an attorney about your intellectual property is confidential.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. You don't have to pay an high dollar hourly rate to get excellent services from a patent attorney. Many projects can be covered by flat-fee arrangements.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Ask if there is a conflict with the subject matter of your invention or trademark or copyright. Ask what sort of matters the attorney is comfortable with working on.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Do you have more than an idea? You can't patent an idea - you need to have reduced your concept to such a level that someone of ordinary skill could practice your invention - if you have that level of detail - even if it is on the back of a napkin - then contact a patent attorney.
