Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. The absolute best way to avoid post-tattoo distress is communication! Having an artist with whom you communicate well is the single most important thing you can do to ensure a good tattoo experience! The other most important thing to do is look closely at an artist's portfolio! Find someone whose style/aesthetic lines up with what you want. We want you to be happy with your tattoo just as badly as you do, and you're the best authority on what you want! Find an artist whose work closely resembles the kind of work you want.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Looking at portfolios and communication, once again! If you give 100 different tattooers the same idea, you'll get 100 COMPLETELY different designs, so make sure that the artist you go to is the right fit for you. Additionally, go into the tattoo with some flexibility--not everything that makes a good drawing/painting translates well to a tattoo, so find the right artist and then trust in her or his abilities!

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Ask how your design will translate to a tattoo. Ask if there are any changes you can make to have it work better. Make sure that generally you feel satisfied and clear with your communication. If you have any questions at all, ask them ahead of time! If you feel bullied or not listened to, find a different artist.
