- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
My most memorable (and personally rewarding) job was actually a senior portrait session. When the client walked in, she was incredibly shy--to the point she could barely say, "Hello." I knew it would be a difficult shoot and I had to figure out how to get at least one great image. During the shoot, I spoke with the client, learned about her interests and tried to find topics that got her excited. We were getting good photos, but it was a struggle. THEN, she asked me about some fans I had in the studio. I explained to her that I use those for fashion work to create lift in the hair or clothing. I saw a little spark in her eye and she asked me if we could use the fans during her session. My reply was, "ABSOLUTELY!" We turned on the fans and this young lady's inner-diva was unleashed. She was comfortable, she was excited, and most importantly, she was having fun! When my client was out of the room, her parents told me that they had absolutely no idea who that girl in front of the fan was. Neither parent had ever seen her so excited or seen that inner-glow. Her personality had literally changed (and blossomed) before their eyes that session. This girl exuded a new level of confidence and self-esteem that she didn't have before. When she left the studio, her head was held high. Of course, the "fan" images were amazing and portrayed a young lady with a new confidence. Her yearbook photo came from that series of images.
