I'm Katie Joy, I'm dedicated to capturing your most special milestones--the arrival of your child, the gap-toothed smile of a growing little one, the family in their holiday-attire, a not-so-little one in their first youth sports attire, the once-little one as they get ready to enter their Senior year of high school, the opening of your own local business, the meeting of your greatest love. Allow me to save that wonder-filled day from becoming a faded memory!
Katie Joy Photography is based in Portland, Oregon and willing to travel wherever our cameras may take us.
Question and answer
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. My most common job is a one-on-one portrait session. I enjoy being able to spend an afternoon shoot with my clients. Building lasting relationships with such extraordinary people is why I do what I do.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Look for a personality that you can bond with. As a photographer, our job is to bring out that special part of you that makes you different than the other 7 billion people walking this earth. If your photographer drives you crazy in short spurts, how will you enjoy the experience the day of your shoot?
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. I read a number of educational blogs and websites as well as having attended several workshops, conferences, and classes in an effort to stay up to date with the best practices for my industry.
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. Love what you do, because if you want to do what you love for a living, it still requires a lot of work. Practice often and share your knowledge with others, this will make you stand out as a leader in your community.
