FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When my husband and I were married in 1998, our Wedding Officiant was very crabby and read the vows in a monotone voice. It was such a spectacularly happy day, and he was the only disappointment. I never wanted any other couples to go through that, so I researched how to become ordained and went for it.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't wait until the last minute to book your officiant! We are often near the bottom of the list when it comes to couples booking their vendors! I've performed multiple ceremonies in a day, but depending on travel time between venues, I am limited in availability. Saturdays, of course, are the most popular day and often booked a year in advance. If you wait until the last minute, you could be cheating yourself out of the time and attention a good officiant wants to provide. Ask lots of questions. Do they have references or reviews? Check out their website, facebook page, Google+, Twitter, etc. - you can find out a lot through social media and really get a sense of whether they might be a good fit for you.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Not to wait till the last minute. Surprisingly, booking the Wedding Officiant is often one of the last vendors booked! You can't get married without us! And I need time to write up the vows.
