Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Ask the potential provider questions - if they just want to get you off the phone, don't answer it at all or just want you to make an appointment then look elsewhere. Many of our calls with potential clients are solved over the phone FREE before they ever come in. We want to make sure you aren't just wasting your money.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. Information is always recoverable! If you get a virus, a new operating gets installed or even if your hard drive fails, the information in your computer is always recoverable. The cost to recover it will vary dramaticly based on how hard it is to recover but, if the information is valuable, you can get it back.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. How much will this repair cost and when will it be finished? If the provider can't even tell you a range of costs, they are either lying or haven't been doing their job long enough to be working on your computer. If they can't give get your computer fixed within 2 days then they are probably just slow rather than busy...take it somewhere else. One exception would be if specialized parts are needed and you don't want to pay for overnight shipping.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Did I like my computer before the current problem and have I been thinking about replacing it? The answer will be a great guide to whether you should repair or replace your computer. If you were already dissatisfied with your computer and have the money to replace it, now would be a great time to replace it and just have your data transferred from the old computer to the new one. Conversely, if you liked your computer and the repair is going to cost less that 2/3 of replacing it, get the repair done.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. First, we know our job so well that all of our in-shop services are flat-price instead of hourly. If it takes longer than usual, it doesn't cost you any extra.
Second, if some problem does show up after you get your computer back, our service and parts are covered warranties and we'll take care of it for you.
We've heard horror stories of computers being in the shop for weeks and the shop just shines the customer along. At Mad Dog, this is never the case. As long as we can get ahold of you and any required parts are available, you'll have your computer back in days, not weeks.
