Introduction: Blue Komet Taekwondo is a Christian-based dojang promoting taekwondo for kids and taekwondo or tactical hapkido for adults. Though martial arts is great as a sport and is very popular, our emphasis is on self-defense and fitness combine with our desire to serve Christ. Traditional Taekwondo: Taekwondo is a Korean martial art and the national sport of South Korea. Taekwondo may be loosely translated as the way of the foot and fist, or the way of kicking and punching. The term traditional taekwondo typically refers to the martial art as it was established in the 1950s and 1960s in the South Korean military forces. Taekwondo training generally includes a system of blocks, kicks, punches, and open-handed strikes, and may also include various take-downs or sweeps, throws, and joint locks, or hapkido. Tactical Hapkido: Tactical hapkido is a system of self-defense that include joint locks, kicks, strikes and weapons disarms, without the traditional stances, or hyungs/forms. Tactical hapkido is based on biomechanics and scientific principles, and is officially recognized and accredited as a legitimate kwan of hapkido by the World Korean Martial Arts Union.

Our family absolutely loves Blue Komet Taekwondo! We have studied at other dojos, but Master Loych is by far the best instructor we've ever had. All of the people at his school are so nice and helpful!

Erich runs a terrific class. He teaches from the littlest kids to those of us who are more . . .mature. The classes are separated so each age group gets appropriate attention. TKD is both practical and a great work out. I have not been very 'sportsy' in the past but am enjoying my progress as an individual and interacting with the others in the classes.
