My daughter, age 11, has been taking piano lessons from Bill Coccagna for a short period. But in this short period, Bill has motivated and inspired my daughter by helping her write and record a song about herself. My daughter has been taken piano lessons for approximately 3 years from other instructors, but was always reluctant to practice at home. Bill has encouraged her to practice at home so that she builds confidence in her musical ability. Bill has made the piano lessons fun for my daughter by incorporating pop music along with classical music into his teaching style. Bill's vast range of musical knowledge and experience is shared with my daughter in a way that she understands. Most importantly, Bill provides a comfortable setting for my daughter where the piano lessons take place.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. To find a piano instrutor who will customize a lesson plan to suit the student. The first lesson should always be free of charge to determine if a mutual match exists.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I sincerely care about helping a student appreciate music and to get better at it. I develop a customized a lesson plan for each student based on what they want to accomplish. My rates are very affordable in this challenging economy and the first lesson is free of charge. Will have a student playing the music they love in a relativey short time period.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I recently helped a student master a song they always wanted to play but could not because they lacked the proper technique and skills. Along with reading piano notation, I can play very well by ear. I figured the song out, showed them how to play it well while also maintaining proper fingering, technique and tempo for the student. They can play and sing this song very well now.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. First, make sure that you know your craft very well. This means being aware of your strengths and weaknesses. You must have a passion for teaching students of all different levels. And lastly, must have sustained patience for all of your students, all of the time.

Q. What is your greatest strength?

A. I have a great amount of patience and put my all into helping a student get better and achieve their goals. I often extend the lesson, and do not charge them, to help them master the particular lesson plan for the day.
