Jeff was a great guy to work with. His prices are the best I found on the internet. He did end up canceling the first time because of truck issues, but when he came he gave us a few extras because of that. I thought that was very nice. I would recommend Bayton Electric for sure.

    Testimonial from Angies List

I tried to do some easy electrical work around our old house (installing new ceiling fixtures & switches). Ended up getting in over my head with wiring that was probably put in place in 1946 when the house was built. Too many live wires, wires that shouldn't be live but were, wires connected where they shouldn't be, no ground wiring, etc. I ended up undoing some kind of funky circuitry that cut service to about 1/4 of the house.

I contacted Jeff Bayton via email (actually found him on Craigslist first, then checked Angie's List). He wrote back to me later that same evening saying he'd telephone me the next morning. He did. We made arrangements for his associate Rick to be at our house at 9 a.m. Saturday morning. Rick showed up right on time and got to work diagnosing the situation.

Jeff showed up within 15 minutes. They did some troubleshooting, then spoke with me about the situation and quoted a price range for correcting the wiring and installing 2 ceiling lights and a ceiling fan. Once they got started, additional problems popped up, which they corrected. After two hours, both new ceiling lights were installed and the wiring situation was resolved controlling other switches and a fixture that ordinarily wouldn't be associated with our service request, but, because of our house's old wiring scheme, were.

My only negative point regarding the service is that they were not able to install the ceiling fan we had purchased for our master bedroom. The fixture box in the ceiling was old, loose and not the kind that would support a fan anyway. So they left the rough wiring in a way I was able to easily install a new simple light fixture (this fixture also housed multiple hot wires).

Jeffrey did several different jobs at my house. On his first visit he listened carefully to my questions and gave clear explanations and great suggestions for meeting my needs in the most efficient way. I felt like he really understood my situation and helped me keep the costs to a minimum. Each job was done quickly and everything works great. He did a good job of cleaning up, too. As an extra; Jeff is very personable and pleasant to have around! I would highly recommend Bayton Electrical Contracting.

I am so very happy that I found Jeff Bayton and his company! After several estimates and meetings with different electricians, I was most impressed with Jeff. He offers a very fair price and high quality service. He and his partner, Rick, explained every step of the process as it was happening, which was great since I have a toddler and TV was limited that day so I needed to plan another activity. They took time to show me troubled areas in my service and discussed options and prices before doing anything so there were no surprises. They even noticed where I ran extension cords in my basement and added plugs that were convenient to my needs.
I felt very comfortable with them here and even left to go out with no hesitation. I felt like a family member was doing the job. They are honestly THAT NICE! He is very trustworthy, caring and didn't try to sell me a bunch of unnecessary services that other "big box" companies did.
Speaking of "big box" companies, they told me I couldn't have an outdoor outlet put in because it was impossible. Bayton Electrical did so without hesitation and did a fantastic job.
The inspector came the day after they were finished and everything was perfect.
I highly recommend Bayton Electrical and will use them in the future.

Having just been "stung" by a cement contractor, I was reluctant to have to find an electrician for some desperately needed work. Rick, Jeffrey (and Nate) were honest, fair and thorough. They took what seemed an overwhelming task of removing old wiring and divided the project into manageable, affordable "phases." Every question that I had was answered honestly and the work completed without surprises. They took great pride in their work and cleaned all work areas daily. I have recommended them to others and will call them with all electrical needs in the future. This team has restored my faith in contractors!

I would recommend to anybody. They show up on time and finish the job completely without visit gaps. Also very friendly and respectful.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Ask questions!!!!

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. #1 How long have you been in the Trade?
#2 Do you have experience doing this type of work?
#3 Whats the inspection process?
#4 Anything else you want to know. Questions are good and build a trusting relationship.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Minimum code is what separates us from the rest. We don't just use minimum code for installations we exceed code requirements so you will be ready for the future. Most electricians only use minimum code requirements but there are lots of installations that doing the minimum just won't work in the long run from safety to expansion. Minimum means just that minimum...

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Can you quote a price over the phone? No, I can give a ballpark figure based on available information but to give a complete quote on price I have to look at the work to be done. That's why we offer Free Estimates so you don't have to pay for me to come out and collect all the required information so I can give the best price based on the specific job. Every job is different there is no set pricing.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. All electrical installations are governed by the NEC (National Electric Code), which sets the minimum requirements for safety. For an electrician the Code is law and we must meet the minimum at all times.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. What is the difference between free estimates and service calls?
A free estimate is for new installations, during a free estimate we come and discuss your ideas and take measurements and quote price based on that information. A service call is when something is not working as expected and requires us to find and fix the problem. There is a fee for the service call and is usually billed hourly plus materials. We can not give estimate for service call because we need to find the issue, once issue is found we can quote repair cost. A service call is not a free estimate but a billable service. Please call for Rate.
