The Czerny Piano Institute was started by Mark Ingerman, an award-winning performer, composer, and educator. He won the Ukraine Junior Piano Competition at the age of 8 and the Philadelphia Orchestra Competition at 14. Graduate of Philadelphia College of Performing Arts and the winner of the 1989 International Composer Competition in Warsaw, he was also commissioned to write orchestral pieces for the Prague Radio Orchestra and won the Ukrainian National Composer Award.
Mark Ingerman has developed a piano teaching method that has been recognized by the International Piano Guild and the EU Music Educators Guild as one of the most effective teaching methods in Europe. He now offers the same method in the US through The Czerny Piano Institute.
We concentrate on the interest of the student and develop their talents in a fun and exciting way. Whether they want to play Bach or Lady Gaga, we have fun with it all. So, come and join one of the best studios in Lower Bucks County, and learn piano in a non-stuffy atmosphere that offers excellent piano education, including theory and harmony, as well as composition.

Mark is an amazing educator in all aspects of musical development.
All three of my kids are in his studio and they are having the time of their life. Brady, is the serious one with aspirations of stardom. Mark goes all out with Etudes and Exercises to help him strengthen the wrist and fingers. He's in the Princeton Competition this year. Garrett is the having fun type. He loves Billie Joel and Elton John. Mark is having a blast with him, learning theory, harmony, chord structures, you name it. Emma is the shy one and she just plays for herself. Mark is very gentle with her education, not pushy at all. It seems like he has more fun than the kids themselves... I love what he has done for my family and the music he brings to our lives every week. Strongly recommend him as a teacher...Stacy G. in Titusville, NJ.

A. The only thing I can tell you is, ask before you get in. See if the teacher can customize and grade the performance of the sudent. Curriculum is key, but it needs to be approved by the National Piano Guild or NMTA, as well as RCM, the EU Guild, etc...Throw those terms at the teacher and see what happens. If he askes you what those are, RUN!!!
A. I can not stress enough on how many hacks there are out there pretenting to know what they teach. If you do not do your homework on this subject, or attend a music store school, you are asking for trouble and throwing your money out the window. A Music Pedagoue should have the following minimum agenda: a Masters in Music...Professionals who make music their life, teach with a passion and respect of their clients. They understand the fragile mind of a child and how much damage one wrong move can make. I suggest seeking out a teacher with an established book and asking to speak to some of his clients. If he can not do that, don't waste your time.
A. I design and alter a curriculum that engages all and any student on their personal abilities and drive. Whether they be a beginner, intermediate or a professional, my system can improve their tecnique. It also takes away the boredom of having to practice. Czerny designed this model over two hundred years ago. Educators now adays, are not qualified to teach it. I adapted this technique to any situation and tested it, to find out that it is the best way possible for any piano ailment.
A. How much do you practice? My answer is, I'm a busy teacher. Between house calls and the Conservatory in Doylestown, I run like a mad man. So I practice sporatically here and there. But I use my system of exercises to keep my fingers technically advanced. I am also recording all of Mozart's Piano Sonatas as well as all violin and piano sonatas of Beethoven in this coming year with my friend Albena Stoykova. That keeps me pretty focused.
A. Very interesting things are happening. The Piano is involving more and more in technology. There is even an "I Pod" app that lets you play piano on the "I Pod"... Awesome. "Baldwin" pianos, with the help of my friend Hugh Sung, have developed a piano that will print out the score as you play it on the keyboard... "Skype" is used more and more for private lessons in EUROPE...
I can not predict where this is going to end, but I am adapting to the challenges, and loving it!
