Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Weddings and engagements fill up a bulk of my schedule with some families, newborns and just because portraits filling in the cracks. Each session is uniquely special as they celebrate a new chapter in life. Within the next few years I am hoping to add bourdoir to this list!

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. No one likes awkward poses. How do you avoid them? By meeting your photographer, whether it's in person or a phone call. How you feel about your photographer ultimately affects the emotions that come through on your images. Make sure your personalities mesh well and you are on the road to awesome portraits!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Creating a portrait is about more than JUST clicking the shutter. There is image composition, aperture, shutter speed, exposure time...not to mention lighting and knowing the most flattering angles for all body types. This is just the tip of the iceberg and I don't want to scare you off!

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Knowing what type of images they want. For some, black and white speaks to them with simplistic backgrounds and props. For others, it's a sepia tone with an old time feel and fashion. And for our more fun and wild side, we like architecture and in your face colors. Have a good grasp of what emotions you want your images to portray and know how to convey that to your photographer so they can help you achieve your photography goal.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Sharing in my clients' joy, watching their family grow and seeing their love radiating over the years. Nothing makes my heart swell with joy as I provide these families years of enjoyment from their images as the portraits become family heirlooms to pass down from generation to generation. You just do not realize how fast the years pass by and looks change until you look at images from years ago.
