Owen's Electrical was the best electrician I have hired to date. Mike the owner is professional and completed the work in a timely fashion. These days you have to worry if contractors are gonna show up ... Mike showed up every day on time. I highly recommend this co. thanks again Mike

I found Micky to be highly knowledgable and very talented in resolving several difficult electrical problems with my older home. He has a high degree of not only electrical experience but general home care and repair expertise that comes in handy when you run into unexpected problems.
He is punctual and always calls if he is runnig late or has a problem. His pricing is reasonable and for a true professional actually on the low end of the scale. He has come back at no charge when there were questions or any issues whatsoever. I would highly recommend Micky to anyone without any concern and would be happy to talk to anyone interested in his work.

I interviewed 7 electricians before choosing Owens. They caught a problem that none of the other electricians saw. It was an easy to fix issue that was encompassed in the original job.

The most important thing to me was that the contractor show up on the scheduled day. In my house, everyone is an independent contractor with schedules changing daily. I don't have days off. If I stay home for you and you don't show up you have cost me a days pay.

Owens showed up and did the work quickly. The estimate was true to the job. I did have some parameters of the job change, but the price was worked out in advance. There were NO surprises.

I hired them back to do another job, and recommend them.

We have hired Owens Electric several times, for both major and minor electrical services. The owner is very kind and reasonable, does quality work and communicates with customers. If something is not right, it is always fixed to the customer's satisfaction!

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. We install, maintain and repair electrical systems and components for residential, commercial and Industrial institutions. Upgrades, service calls, lighting, remodels, ceiling fans, hot tubs, receptacles etc... "please see website for all info" If there is electric to it we do it!

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. I would make sure that you get at least two to three estimates. I would also look for just licensed and insured companies.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Panel name, measurements of the room/project, access to the wiring (drop ceiling, hard ceilings, sheetrocked wall, open walls etc....) Electrical work can require information on many aspects of the project, unlike painting and sheetrocking. With the panel name we can make sure we have the required breakers, panel size, if there is space in the panel for a breaker, measurements are a big part to measure for wire/conduit etc.., and access to the required destination should get you a round about estimate over the phone from me anyway!!!!

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Well trained, attention to detail, customer satisfaction (service), reliablility, dependable and honost.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I really enjoy meating people. I guess I really like providing a great service and getting the satisfaction myself from the customer being satisfied.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Are you Insured
Are you Licensed
Do you have References: Yes!

Do you charge by the hour or job. I charge by the job.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I have many stories, one story is a customer of mine had recently got into a major car accident and was paralized - he was no longer able to walk--I donated my services to install a video doorbell and chair lift--his name is michael sutton he will be posting a testimonial shortly if he did not already!

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. That it requires schooling in all states except for PA, I found that to be crazy, I think you should have to have a 4 year program with 4,000 On the Job training hours just like all the other states. I recieved my hours and training in the Pacific Northwest Both when I was in the navy 16 week school, and my civilian apprentice training at North Idaho College in Post Falls Idaho. I am pushing the townships to require more as are other licensed electricians.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I joined the navy and decided to be an electrician my 4th year in the navy. I switched my rating and ever since I have bee an electrician, just faith I guess.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I am currently working on a church, no matter the religion I enjoy being around the positive enviorenment ( I loved it so much I donated some work )

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Every year I have to take 16 hours of code

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. Solar, its coming around in about 5 years you will see a bit of it in your neighborhood! If you have the money and plan on living in your home for a while, this is great it makes your meters go backwards! What a deal, they pay you!

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. The first step is to research and find a approved apprenticeship program in your area. Once you get involved with registering for schooling most apprenticeship will steer you in the direction of what employers are part of there apprenticeship program. In the lehigh valley area there is an apprenticeship program call ABC in allentown,pa. I myself graduated from ABC. ABC is all over the United States so you can transfer around if you would have to move.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. Do you give Free Estimates and have any discounts? Yes we do. We also have many specials. 10% off to all present and prior military, fire, police, medical and senior citizens. We also honor referrals and repeat customers at 15% percent off. The months from December 1st to February 28th we offer 20% off panel upgrades or service changes.
