Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Residental design. Living rooms, master bedrooms, offices, kitchens, dining rooms, child' rooms, bathrooms, foyers.
Sometimes it is the entire room including furniture, walls, flooring and window treatments. Sometimes it is just window treatments. We are here to service whatever need the client has.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. You will be spending much time with the designer you select. Make sure you are comfortable with him/her. Look at their referral list. Call people on the list to learn of the designer's competence and honesty. Does he/she promise more than is given? If so, move on to another designer. Was the client satisfied with the finished result? Would they use the same designer again for a new project? Ask what they didn't like about the designer. Note how long the designer has been in business. You do not stay in business if you do poor work.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Most people think that being a designer is a glamourous occupation and relatively easy. A good designer might spend 2 hours with you and 20 hours without you on research, space planning, color coordinating and paperwork. A good designer is educated in psychology as well as has creative and business ability. The designer is an entrepreneur possessing the ability to market him/herself. And a good designer will have been educated in a design school.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We listen to our clients and help them achieve the look they want. We put them first. We are very creative, easy to work with, offer discounts and guarantee our work. We are responsible for the project from agreement of ideas to the workrooms to the installation. We work days, evenings and weekends for the convenience of the client. We have a large referral list available to see. We have only happy clients.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Helping others.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Q How is it you are so patient?
A. I know clients need time to "digest" the information I give them. An investment in their home that they will live with for many years takes much careful thought and planning.

Q. Do I need to hire my own installer?
A. No, Botany Decorating has installers for every project.
