Childbirth Educator, Birth Doula & Breastfeeding Counselor

Hello Mom!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Well Born Baby is a team of certified doulas, childbirth educators, professional counselors and lactation consultants empowering women in Philadelphia, Wilmington, along the main line, and the surrounding suburbs to become confident mothers. We prepare you for the big day, from helping you write a birth plan to informing you of your choices surrounding your baby's birth. After you welcome your little one, we are on hand to help, as you navigate the world of motherhood.

We offer:

* Doula services:

Our certified doulas pamper and prepare you for your special birth experience. We offer birth doulas to provide encouragement, reassurance, and the comfort measures you need to cope with each stage of labor. Well Born Baby believes all moms deserve a doula, and we work with moms who plan on using pain medication, those who want to see how it goes, and those trying for 100% natural. Additionally, we provide ante-partum and post-partum doula services. Complimentary in-home consultations are available!

* Counseling:

Professional counseling has been shown to be an effective way to help transition smoothly into motherhood. We offer baby-friendly counseling sessions in the convenience of your own home, in a private office, on the telephone, and even as a walk and talk session.

* Lactation services:

This is practical instruction and encouragement for nursing moms. Well Born Baby wants to be there to support you through any breastfeeding challenge you meet. That's why we have our own in-house international board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) and certified lactation educator (CLE); having a qualified and experienced person to help with breastfeeding can make all the difference.

* Childbirth and parenting education:

This includes everything you need to know at each stage to best care for your child. Our classes are designed to provide parents with the knowledge and confidence they will need to meet the challenges of birth, breastfeeding, and newborn care. Sessions include:

- childbirth education
- newborn parenting email support
- breastfeeding education
- cloth diapering
- infant sleep consultations
- starting solids and making baby food

* Maternity concierge:

It's the perfect fit for your baby and your busy life. We'll assist you in shopping, finding a pediatrician or childcare, as well as figuring out what education and support might be most beneficial for you.

* Prenatal and infant massage:

There's nothing more powerful than a soothing touch. We have our own in-house certified massage therapist for pre and postnatal massage for mom, as well as infant massage instruction for parents.

We support your journey from belly to birth and beyond!

Question and answer

  • Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

    A. Trust your natural instincts. Most childbirth educators, doulas, and lactation consultants provide the same type of services. It comes down to who you are most comfortable with. Finding an educator, doula, or lactation consultant that is supportive of your wishes and helps you make the choices you are comfortable with is important. Not everything is right for everyone. Your care provider should be able to listen to your needs and help you have your best experience.

  • Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

    A. I would want to know what their previous clients thought of their services and/or if they were recommended by my care provider. I would not want someone coming in with their own agenda. Also, I would want to know how many clients they book per month. Due dates have a 6 week window of possibility. I would want to know if they realistically can make my birth or if they often hand off to another doula. I would also want to know if my doula guaranteed a back-up if they were unavailable.

  • Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

    A. They should ask how many years they've been in practice, how many clients they've worked with, what their birthing philosophy is, what their breastfeeding philosophy is, and if they are certified.

  • Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

    A. We offer a team approach and one stop place for expectant couples to receive support and products to make their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience an enjoyable experience.

  • Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

    A. Private Shopping Service
    When you find that your bras no longer fit, or want to learn more about Moby Wraps or cloth diapers, we are happy to bring our store right to you. We’ll turn your living room into a mini-showroom, and even do custom bra fittings on the spot. (Great idea for a girls’ night, to share with pregnant friends or new moms!) There is no charge and no obligation to purchase.
    Please email info@wellbornbaby.com to schedule a visit.

    Baby Planning Services
    Babies change everything. Sometimes those changes can seem overwhelming if we don’t have anyone to show us the way. Well Born Baby sees your Baby Planner as a guide, a veteran who has been through this before, and who can tell you the hard truths about what will help and what won’t. Your Baby Planner can assist you with shopping, finding a pediatrician or childcare, as well as figuring out what education and support might be the most beneficial.

Our sleep consultation is designed to look at the whole picture of baby’s health, feeding schedule, activities, and environment to get an idea about anything that might be interfering with the family’s sleep.
    Sessions are approximately 90 minutes, after parents complete at least three days of tracking baby’s feeding and sleeping schedule. One email follow-up consult is included. Sessions with certified education specialists with years of hands-on parenting experience. You will learn best practices, practical skills and personal tricks and tips.
