- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I am a trained artist and can back that up with a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Delaware. Because of my creative background and the need to have control I was very particular when it came to picking out my own wedding photographer. There is a reason for everything in life and most of the time you don't know it until later down the road. I was lucky enough to find the perfect wedding photographer for us. He was able to capture our day without being directive or intrusive. We eventually became friends and soon he invited me to shoot a wedding with him to see if I liked it. I of course did and 4 months later I started my own business and continued to be a second shooter photographer for him. He took me under his wing with his 20+ years of experience and taught me all he knew. We continue to shoot together every chance we get.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Photographing weddings in a photojournalistic style is what my company provides. Engagement sessions are available upon request.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure you meet with more than one photographer to find out who you would best want to work with. You should be as comfortable to have them there as you would a guest.
