Question and answer

Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.

A. #1 - Redesigned a 2-day face-to-face class on project management into a six 2-hour session course over 6 weeks online for ASTD.

#2 - Designed a 45-minute elearning course on the topic of negotiations for a company in Scotland. The course will be used my a pharmaceutical company in the US.

#3 - Developed a course catalog for a training company that I partner with: InSync Training.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Schooling is good, but experience speaks volumes about a writer! Choose a writer who has solid experience creating the type of document(s) you need and who can show you evidence of that experience. (In other words, if you need somebody to write a user guide for an application, don't hire them based on a soft skills job aid example.)

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love technical writing because I am always in the position of learning something new. I am especially good at writing about topics that I currently have no knowledge in! Being in this position enables me to see the topic from the same perspective as a potential new user/reader. It allows me to ask Subject Matter Experts the right questions to get at the heart of the matter.
