Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. My work stands out from others in several ways. The main one would be due to the equipment I use. I do not use the typical straight blade scissor for my hair cuts. I use an intricate scissor that is called the K11's. This is a designer shear I bought at a New York Hair Show I attended. It is a texturizing shear made for dry hair cutting, although may also be used for wet hair. It gives off texture and movement with each and every snip. Unlike a straight blade, the K11 shears do not push the hair away, but instead trap the hair to keep it from being pushed away, creating a soft, powerful line.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. Making others beautiful and putting a smile on their face :)
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. The majority of my clients ask me a question with another question, which is usually "Well, what do you think?" My answer back always varies according to what I believe my client is looking for, as well as their everyday steps in how they manage their hair, their lifestyles (example-job, kids, etc), and of course their facial structure and skin tones.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. Becoming a Hair Stylist was always something I have wanted to do. Ever since I was a little girl. From doing my barbie dolls hair to growing into my teen years doing my girlfriends' hair. My hobby at one point that I enjoyed doing, is now my career.
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. Continuing education is by far extremely important in this industry for the simple fact that new styles, trends, and most important new color and equipment is always being launched. At my work place, my boss offers classes that are taught by experienced professionals. along with that, I do my own research and pay out classes to sit in on. In addition I soon plan to take my cosmetology teachers exam.
