Introduction: I have a unique approach to training and teaching. I was taught in both the schools of thought where everything was the rider's fault and where everything was the horse's fault. I try to find the middle ground so that horse and rider can succeed together. My approach is very fair, but also firm. My broad background of cross-disciplinary experience allows me to be very creative in my training methods. I have riders that have competed at world shows in western pleasure and now are doing a 360 towards dressage...talk about changing your riding goals. I also have had great success in helping riders who have lost confidence in themselves and their horses. By working with the horse and rider separately and then together, I have several students that have had huge breakthroughs and are now confidently enjoying their horses again. I love having kids tell me that they look forward to their lessons, that they're learning, or that after a bad day of school their lessons just made their day. Seeing improvement in all my clients and horses in training is the best part of my job.

Jess Stemmler provides excellent instruction for first time beginners as well as those who have been riding for quite some time. I had lessons from several different people, and after only one month with Jess I was completely changed for the better. She re-taught me through the wrong habits I picked up, explained things to me on my level of knowledge so that I always understood, and always was and still is my first go-to person for any help or questions I have (and I always have a lot!). Because of Jess, I was able to do much better in the rodeos I was in, which was not only noticeable to me, but to the spectators as well, who came to me and told me that they saw a 100% improvement in my riding. Those people did not know I was getting lessons with Jess, so that just makes it all the better to get those compliments for Jess and myself. As both an instructor and a trainer, I would without a doubt recommend her to anyone looking for instruction or training, or just an exciting trail-blazing hunt ride through the forest!

My children have learned a lot from taking horseback riding lessons with Jessica Stemmler. She is great with kids, has access to wonderful horses, and is very professional. My children always look forward to lessons with Jessica. I would recommend her to everyone!

I feel so lucky to have Jessica Stemmler as my riding instructor. She is very patient and able to work with me towards my riding goals. She makes me feel at ease at lessons and is ALWAYS available when I have a question. I have gone to as many of her clinics as possible. They were all professionally taught and everyone had a great time while we were there. I have been riding for some time and always learn something new from Jessica. I drive an hour to train w/ her so I think that is saying something! Believe me, she is great! :) I can't say enough good things about her!

My daughter has been training with Jessica for about a year now. Jessica is very knowledgeable in both Western and English riding styles. My daughter learns a lot from the lessons, we're very happy to have found Jessica!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BS in Equine Business Management and an AA in English Equestrian Studies. I graduated with Honors from the University of Findlay in 2010. In 2013 I received my USDF Bronze Medal for competing through Third level dressage. I continue to take lessons regularly with my own horses and attend as many lectures, clinics, and other educational events as I can.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Once upon a time I got my first horse. His name was Blaze, and he changed my life. Those difficult teenage years were made so much easier because I had someone to go to that didn't criticize me and didn't want to talk about my future. He just listened. I fell in love with horses and the bond we can have with them, and I've been working ever since to be the best rider, trainer, and teacher I can be so I can help others experience that bond. It's a process and a journey even now that I am doing this every day, but it's worth it when I see that bond forming in my clients.
