I base my fees on a combination of factors, including project budget, schedule, and complexity.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a LEED-accredited professional, I keep current on the science of green building. This gives my clients the advantage of having a well-informed partner on their side as they try to build in the most responsible, sustainable way possible. Also, as part of being a licensed architect, I am required to do continuing education on a variety of topics, many of which focus on innovative products, materials, and methods of construction, while others focus more on human health and safety issues.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
As a child, I lived in a neighborhood that was full of construction. I spent hours exploring these homes, occasionally walking the sites with my father, an "armchair architect" himself. I was fascinated with how building were built, but also why they were designed the way they were. This led me to want to study architecture--to get at the "why".
