I am an audio engineer. I have worked with some notable acts like George Clinton, Uri Caine and Gift of Gab; some soon to be notable acts like Abby Ahmad and Vanessa Bley; and a whole host of great people who just make music for the love of it.

I work out of a number of high end facilities, all within different price ranges.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Do a little digging. Mixing is an art not a science - it's highly subjective. Choosing a mix engineer is like choosing what color to paint a room - obviously you don't want polka dot, but who can say blue is better than yellow? Also, contact a potential mixer, get a read on her/his attitude. Attitude and energy are almost as important as skill.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I coordinate between an excellent home facility and top of the line professional facilities to maximum bang for your buck. I use sound to enhance the musical quality and feel, not just the sound quality. I provide unlimited recalls in order to make sure you are comfortable and happy with the results.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. It allows me not only to be part of a creative and creating process, it also gives me the satisfaction of helping others hear their music the way they want it heard.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Do I master music as well. The answer is that I am not a dedicated mastering engineer, though I am skilled in the process. For those on a budget I can certainly master your songs and do a good job, but a designated mastering engineer will more than likely give the best results.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. That recording and pre-production are every bit as important as the mixing and mastering process. The instruments, the performers, the room, the arrangement, and of course the song itself are all integral to a great work of art!
