Laura taught me voice for about a year. I started taking lessons because I had always wanted to sing well, and I wanted the vocal chops that would allow me to audition for musicals. I started taking lessons with Laura because I heard her voice. Laura has an amazing operatic voice. This is important because I must have confidence that my teacher has true mastery of what she's teaching, and it helps a lot if the teacher can also leave me speechless with her ability. Laura is this type of teacher. The amount of resonance she generates in her own voice doesn't seem possible, but then she showed that it is possible by teaching me the mechanics to get resonance in my own voice. Laura's teaching style worked well for me. She's kind, but made me do things again and again until they sounded right. I never once felt that she was going easy on me, or that she told me I had done something correctly when I had not. I trust Laura completely in that way. In the end I would love to say that I landed the big part in the community theater musical that opened to a modest house and stilted reviews. Instead, the time demands of running my own business forced me to take a hiatus from lessons. I do plan to resume them, and I would only resume them with Laura.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Vocal Instruction depends heavily on the individual. My lessons/coachings will vary according to a student's vocal needs, experience, and goals. The first lesson allows me to determine what approaches would work best for them.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Please do not go for the cheapest, most convenient teacher. An inexperienced teacher can do permanent damage to your voice!
