I have know Chris for years and I consider him a dear friend after everything he has done for me. When he says he will deliver, he does! His work is flawless and he guarantees it. He is punctual, reasonably priced, master of his trade and extremely friendly. I would recommend him to anyone and would back his workmanship 100%. In a world where repairmen and contractors take advance of our lack of knowledge in their field chris is a breath of fresh air. I know what he tells me is the truth and his advice has been without falter.

Question and answer

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Why should the piano be tuned at least once every 6 months?

Especially in Pennsylvania, we have a huge variance in climate from the wet seasons and dry seasons. Even though a lot of pianists are busy in the summer with going to the beach and enjoying the outdoors their piano is still acclimating to the humidity changes. Many people decide to tune their piano at the beginning of a school year which for PA is our hurricane/tropical depression peak. Your piano could be perfectly tuned but as soon as tropical humidity passes through you can expect the tuning to sound less than perfect.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Why should I tune my piano?

Piano Tuning is the cheapest way to maintain your piano, it gives your technician the chance to adjust your piano's action (the parts from the key to when the hammer strikes the strings). If you don't receive minor adjustments along the way your piano will need more work when it's time to be regulated.
Tuning also ensures that the correct pitches are sounding, left for too long your piano will sound flat. Left even longer and it will cease to sound like a piano and produce a sound one customer likened to a water-gong.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I like to stay on top of new techniques and tools in my field by reading publications from the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) and there are many technician conventions across the nation, I will be attending the upcoming event in Bethlehem, PA.
