FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I mostly fell into it. I've been involved with music for almost my whole life. As a kid, my grandfather was a jazz keyboardest and my grandmother taught me swing dancing. Eventually, I went to college and joined a swing dance group, but the instructors had a falling out and I filled in as the male instructor. That lead into DJing. I quickly expanded from there to include a variety of music. Filling in for other DJs and doing weddings and parties.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Bar Nights: I offer an adaptable collection of music that keeps the crowds entertained at your establishment. Dance Nights: Usually more focused on the clients needs, but still flexible to ensure the crowd is pleased.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When I consider DJs look for professionals who keep their appointments and who are prepared. I also look for DJs that have a wide interest in music tastes, they tend to be more creative and at least I notice when a DJ is forcing music they don't know or like. Finally, I like them to understand the psychology of the crowds. Good psychology can not only keep the dance floor moving, but also keeps the non-dancers involved in the event.
