Shana did the makeup for me, my mom and my matron of honor for my wedding. My skin has a bunch of different issues. Dark spots, acne marks, shadows around my eyes, you name it. Shana made them all disappear! I felt so good, and looked the best I probably ever looked. She was by far the best investment I made for the wedding!

My mom and friend were really happy too. Neither of them likes wearing much makeup, and Shana gave them a natural look that really brought out their best features. They look great in the photos.

Shana is easy to work with, and listens to your likes and dislikes. I would definitely recommend her to anyone with an event. I would like to take makeup lessons from her so I could look good on an everyday basis.

Shana Lohr is a wonderful professional to work with in the field. When working on set with her she is quick, efficient, the make-up application is flawless and she does it all with a smile on her face. She is cheerful and outgoing, a great person to work beside. Shana's creativity really shows in her work and she has always been a tremendous help in getting me exactly what I'm looking for, even if it was hard for me to explain. She knows her medium well and goes above and beyond what I've seen other professionals do. I'm always amazed at the end product. I've worked with Shana for several years now, and there isn't a make-up artist I trust more when it comes to doing work for my portfolio or a client.

Question and answer

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Research the professional make up artist as you would your photographer. Anyone can become a make up artist with no training on sanitation or skin physiology and it doesn't require a license of any kind. However a cosmetologist or esthetician such as myself has knowledge of the skin, how it reacts to ingredients and products. Also what texture and type of make up to use on different skin types to ensure longevity and avoid breakouts or over drying. Ask what products are used and what training they've completed to find out what the prices reflect.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My work is refined and flawless. Having 7 years of very well rounded diverse experience from print work lighting, runways, video production, salon and spa environments, weddings and events, allows flexibility and quick touch ups and solutions. I remain calm and professional through any situation. Lastly I have the knowledge of most skincare and cosmetic lines along with a skincare license.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love using my passion for the beauty industry every day to enhance one's own personal beauty and help them to feel gorgeous inside and out. Using all textures and make up formulas as medium and people as my canvas is the most satisfying.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. The best products, such as mascara or foundation and I answer honestly for their personal needs and skin type.
