Sarah Beauchamp

Introduction: I graduated with honors from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in English Writing and minors in both Film Studies and Theater Arts. My undergraduate work gave me valuable experience in writing, editing, and proofreading. I took initiative to develop my writing outside of the classroom through The Original, a student run and funded liberal arts publication, and Collision, a non-fiction literary magazine. One of my strengths is the ability to engage my readers. Currently, I am an Online Managing Editor for Patch.com, Forest Hills-Regent Square, an online community news website. I write and edit feature articles, manage freelance writers, copy edit, edit photographs using Adobe Photoshop, and organize content on the website. The topics I’ve covered range from community events to local prominent leaders in the film industry to Pittsburgh musicians. The discussion board I manage is often the most read section of the website. I have experience editing film for creative and promotional projects, as well as utilizing social media (mainly Twitter and Facebook) to promote Patch.com, local events, and Nancy Mosser Casting Agency. In a recommendation to a potential employer, Mosser included the following: “Sarah Beauchamp would be an asset to any organization. She is bright, organized, and conscientious.” In addition, I write for Pitt Magazine, the University of Pittsburgh's alumni publication, writing feature stories on Pitt alumni. While I interned with the magazine during college, I collaborated with the editorial staff to develop new ideas for future issues, in addition to proofreading and editing each issue before print. Now I conduct extensive research and interviews in order to shape my own feature pieces.
