Unfortunately I hired J&R to build a deck on the rear of my home. I clearly stated which Rick M. confirmed that he would make the deck clearance high enough for my truck to park under. On first day of work I returned home and noticed that the height of the deck would not allow clearance for my vehicle that I park in the rear of the house. This left me upset as I clearly stated this was a requirement and he guaranteed me it would work. We agreed to the lower height as I would let my wife park her car under the deck and my truck in front of the deck. On the second day of building I returned home and noticed the deck height clearance was too low for my wife's car to park under, the footers were leaning and not sturdy, the wood was not nailed together properly, the ledger board was not secured to the wall properly and the foundation swayed/moved when lightly pushed. After further inspection I noticed that most of the wood was splitting and cracked and falling apart. I stopped the job and had a re-inspection of the foundation to find out that Rich (J&R) never had the initial inspection and the two days of work had to be torn day because it was not properly built and would collapse. I've made several attempts to work with Rich (J&R) to resolve the issue and have him refund my money but he refuses to return my calls or text and just decided to walk off with my deposit. Now I have to have a new contractor tear down what was done and build the deck correctly. The inspector may require me to tear up the newly laid cement for the driveway because Rich (J&R) never had a footer inspection and the whole job will have to be redone again. It's been over two months and I still have no deck because the new contractor has to work with the city to fix all the issues that J&R Construction caused and I have to go to court to fight for my deposit. *****DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY TO YOUR JOB YOU WILL GET SCREWED!*****

A. My most common types of jobs are decks, additions, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, along with finishing basements. However we do custom trim and moulding work, doors and windows and have built a few garages. If there is something we can not do, we will help you get the right professional so you get the most quality of a job.
A. Take your time. Ask for references. Get estimates. Do not always think cheaper is better. I understand the economy and consumers are looking to save money, but I suggest you dont put the quality of the work in jeopardy. Never hurts to ask for a certficate of their liabiality insurance. You have rights to all these above. Why not have someone who will provide with what you need and ask for.
A. No secrets here. All I can offer here is that no matter the project you wish to embark on, just taking your time and learning patience, you can accomplish all you need to do. Also, simple mathmatics can get you through it all.
A. I get this alot for additions. All the consumer really needs is an idea of what they want. I feel that it is up to the contractor/provider to explain different ideas and all options as well just so everyone involved remains as they put it "on the same page".
A. We take our time and do the job right the first time. We do not leave you in the dark. We take the time to show you what we do every step of the way.
A. I am in contact with different people and also doing something different everyday, its not repititous
A. I am asked how long per day in which I will be on the job. My answer is I am there from 8:00 am to at least 5:00. Sometimes we stay late until 7:00pm and are only late arriving if we need to pick up material.
