When I went searching for a music teacher, I was looking for someone very technically competent and intellectual. While I certainly found that in Mary, I found much more that I didn’t expect.

Studying with Mary, there’s always a positive surprise. For example, she has taught me things about relaxing to help me play that have also helped me relax as a person. She teaches not only how to play but how to learn to play.

When I’m not sure where to go with a piece, Mary can always dig a little deeper and show me the way. If you want to talk about technique, philosophy of music, history of music, or feeling the music, Mary can make it relevant. Even when I am not as well-prepared for the lesson as I would like to be, Mary finds a way to make the time valuable and rewarding.

Mary has had a profound effect on my playing and on my life. I know that, wherever my playing goes, Mary will always be right there “on the page” with me. Thanks, Mary! — Nancy W.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. We advise them to work with us if we offer what they are looking for, and we're a good fit. We seek to do God's will, and we wish to work with people who do the same. So we seek to work with people who are committed to God, who are of high integrity, are committed to our project/relationship, are easy to work with, and truly want to work with us and appreciate what we do.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. On the music education side, we wish parents knew what type and quality of education music teachers receive, and how important that is, as it directly affects the type and quality of education their children receive from them. We wish people would ask teachers about their approach and how much experience they have. We wish parents knew that their choice of music teachers makes a huge difference in how music will be a part of and affect their children's lives long term.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We offer unique services, we do it with a lot of love and commitment, and we have a lot of experience and education in our fields of service. One of our unique services is Christian, classical, and jazz worship concerts. Other unique services we offer include: Christian based music lessons, live online music lessons, our proprietary music teaching method, and Christian based sound therapy.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. We love to serve God and people through our services, which are also our passions. We love to help people by pointing them to God, and then watch God move through and work through all of us in loving, powerful, amazing ways!

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Our customers most commonly ask us about details of our services as they relate to what they're looking for. Since everything we do is tailored to the people we're working with, we answer them very specifically based upon their needs/wants.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. We are very dedicated and passionate about what we do. We give our all to everyone we work with. Our relationship with the people we work with, and the quality of what we do is very important to us. We also want people to know that there are people in the music profession who are God centered and are doing great work and helping a lot of people grow closer to God.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. We are constantly educating ourselves to increase the quality of what we do and continue to add to what we can offer those we work with. It is vital to us that we continue to grow personally, and this is reflected in all we do.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. One of the things we are most excited about is the use of technology in what we do. For example, we teach lessons live online, and this is becoming easier and easier. We expect major growth in online learning in the next several years, and we believe the forms of this will change and adapt to the current technology. We are excited about this, and embrace it wholeheartedly! We also see great growth in music education software, which we also embrace and are grateful for.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. We are happy to talk with people who are interested in doing something similar to what we do. We prefer to approach this personally, so we suggest that you email us.
