Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. I advise those looking for a personal chef or assistant to look throughout the service providers website, photos of work and ask if they have any specials or trial services so they can get a chance to see if they like the service before committing to a long term working relationship. I also advise customers to realize how much time they would actually be saving themselves by hiring personal chefs and assistants. Not only will they not have to worry anymore about making dinner or shopping, but you can also eliminate grocery or gift shopping, washing pots and pans and cleaning your kitchen from your daily schedule. For some busy families, these advantages are indeed well worth the investment.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. If I were a customer I would wish I knew more about easy food preparations I could do on days I don't have my personal chef available. I would also like to know what is the best cookware to have and storage containers. If I were inquiring about the shopping assistant I would want to know what stores they shop in and how transactions are processed. For personal assistant inquiries, I would want to know if the assistant would be able to travel with me if possible and if travel time would be an additional charge to me as the customer or is it built into the hiring fee.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Consumers should ask service professionals how long they have been in business, for referrals, customer ratings, insurance information and also maybe ask to meet for a consultation so the consumer could get a feel for the service professional. It's always nice to know you are hiring someone you actually like.
