Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. The most common types of jobs we are enlisted for are:
In-Home Behavior Modification Programs. I travel throughout New England meeting with dogs and their owners who, unfortunately, are in a situation where their dogs behavior is no longer acceptable and they require true Professional Assistance.

Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.

A. Job #1 - re-hired from a past client who purchased a new puppy. Due to the nature of their last dogs issues, they knew how important it was to be proactive regarding their new pups behavior. I'm happy to say that after 4 Sessions - the client and dog couldn't be happier.
Job #2 - a new client enlisted their severely aggressive (dog/dog) German Shepherd in our highly successful In-Patient Behavioral Rehabilitation & Training Program. The dog is now seen regularly at local dog parks and the owners are loving their newly balanced pup
Job #3 - an elderly client with an over-exuberant Doberman Pinscher who had pulled her down and broker her hip 6 months prior. We were able to teach her and the dog how to effectively communicate and walk on a nice loose leash. Great job Mrs. Baldwin!

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. It's very important to understand that the world of Dog Training is a very popular vocation during these tough economic times. It's vital that owners do their research and be sure to compare "apples to apples" when selecting the right trainer for them. Choosing a Certified Professional Dog Trainer will ensure the job gets done right the first time. Many self-proclaimed dog trainers may just not be qualified or educated enough to be truly and postively effective.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. It's vital that customers understand that there is a HUGE difference in the skill set and qualifications of dog trainers. Also, there are 2 specialites under the heading of Dog Training. 1.) Obedience Training, 2.) Behaviorism (or Behavior Modification). Unfortunately for must unknowing owners - they are under the impression that Obedience Training will "fix" their dogs undesirable behaviors....and in most cases, that's just not the way it works. Behavior Modification establishes balanced behavior while Obedience Training teaches the Sit, Down, Stay and Come. Most dogs with Behavioral issues have successfully passed Obedience Training.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Are you a Certified Trainer? Not a trainer with a certificate - but an honest and true Certified Professional Dog Trainer. Also, if a trainer is not willing to allow you to correspond with previous clients - that's a real "red flag".

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Are they ready, willing and able to make the level of commitment that is necessary to create life-long behavioral balance in their dogs. It's not as easy or simple as some may think.
