I offer professional handyman services. I am a state-licensed contractor specializing in small and very small jobs. Call for a printed price list, or see it online (carpentry, electrical and plumbing repair rates).
All employees have passed a background check and drug test. My wife and I started Rapid Repairs in 1999 and can answer all your questions. You can schedule your repairs from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
We service the Tri-County and the islands.
Question and answer
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Customers should never, never, never pay any money in advance. Real contractors or handymen do not need money to buy material. Also before allowing someone in your home make sure that they are licensed, drug free, and not a sexual predator.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. Hidden damage is very rare but often an excuse by bad contractors to raise their price. Pricing should be in writing before work starts. Another risk for homeowners are hiring handymen who are not licensed or bonded. There are a lot of "handyman" services who are not licensed. You can check to make sure someone has a license at: https://verify.llronline.com/LicLookup/LookupMain.aspx
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. Any worker at your home or office should be insured. There is no cost to an insured handyman or contractor to provide a certificate of insurance from their insurance agent. The certificate should come from the insurance agent and not a copy where the dates and name can be whited out and re-typed. If someone gets hurt while working at your home or office you may be responsible for their medical costs or burial costs.
