I am an Emmy Award-winning executive producer based in Southeast USA. I have a strong background in news and field producing. I am a former news director who started my own media business.

I created several local shows in Charleston including "The Savage Report", "Busted", "Gardening at Magnolia", "The Real Deal" and "The Visitors Network". I edit on Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro. I have national clients including ABC World News Tonight, NBC Nightly News, CBS This Morning, Jupiter Entertainment and others.

I have consulted for several Charleston area businesses and news outlets. I have experience in producing political debates, documentary, corporate, tourism and legal videos. My multi-media experience includes website development, powerpoint, Final Cut, Avid, Adobe Premiere and Photoshop.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Talk to them and make sure they "get" what you're looking for. Someone may have a camera, but no idea how to put together your vision. Set a deadline. Most producers/editors work best with these.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. One minute of video can take several hours to produce and edit. The effects, "look" and subtle touches are what really make the difference in any video and they are what take the most time to complete for a client.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Who are some of your other clients? Have you produced a video like this before? What do you think of the concept we want you to develop for us? Can you separate out how much shoot time, writing time and editing time this will involve? Will this be shot in HD? Does it need to be shot in HD?
