Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. After the love you have for each other the most important part of your wedding is the photographs which capture the emotions of the moment. Make sure you have a photographer who has the experience to capture the emotions as they happen. Your wedding can't be done over for the photographer. The photographer has to have the ability to capture the real moments as they happen before they are lost forever. Remember: When the wedding is over all you have is your memories and the photographs.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. If I was a customer I would be frightened to learn of how many photographers are simply amateurs who picked up a camera after their friends told them how wonderful their pictures are. Photography is not a random or simple skill. It is the art of capturing light and human emotions. Moments of beauty that pass in seconds. With the advent of digital photography everyone suddenly thinks they are a professional photographer. Would you trust just anyone to invest your money? Would you trust just anyone to perform surgery on your child? Why would you hire just anyone to capture the most important moments of your life.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. I would ask to see extensive examples of complete weddings, not just one or two nice pictures. Your wedding is a story which needs to be told, not just a few random nice images. I would investigate their experience to make sure they are properly trained and experienced to be able to perform at a professional level. I would make sure that I meet face to face as the photographer will be spending more time with you on your wedding day than anyone else and you have to make sure that you click. Finally I'd avoid the advice of wedding planners when it comes to selecting your vendors, most wedding planners get a commission from vendor recommendations and they are not looking after your best interests.
