Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.
A. I've recently played for the 6th Annual Style Exhibition Fashion Show. It is a 3 day fashion event here in Columbia, SC. It attracts models and designers from all over the country. I am the official DJ of this event each year.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Go with experience. Not every DJ is equal. Quality comes with time. Ask for references.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. Diversity of music is important. A quality DJ can read the crowd. Most DJs don't like requests.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. How long have they been doing it? Can they provide references? Do they play all genres? Do they have their own equipment?
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. Sharing the music i enjoy with other people. Having the opportunity to see the reaction on peoples faces when a certain song comes on or when it's mixed differently than what they are use to hearing. Creating memories with a soundtrack.
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. That there is so much more to being a DJ than just pressing play. The ones who do just press play are not worth your time or money. A true artist loves what they do and it shows in their performance, so always hire a professional with experience.
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. Take time to learn the craft before marketing yourself. There is nothing wrong with hanging back and educating yourself. Find a mentor. We are happy to help anyone wanting to truly learn the art.
