Jean Carter chose furnishings and incorporated some pieces we had, had drapes custom made for us, chose floor tile for baths, kitchen countertops, paint colors, etc. This was basically a whole house remodel. We did it all with confidence because Jean is so very inspired, creative and talented! She has a great eye for color and detail. Jean is assisting me with updating my home in Simpsonville, SC. I saw the results of her work at a friends home and was very impressed. She listens and has been interested in learning about our lifestyle and color preferences. She has a great sense of what will really look good and be something you can live with for a long time. She is sensitive to budget constraints and is willing to reuse/repurpose items already on hand. She will tactfully tell you, without being intimidating, something will not work. I had already begun working on some lighting/ flooring/stair changes and she was happy to give suggestions with any questions I asked of her. I expect the whole process will take about 4-6 months but that is because we are working on multiple rooms and I am not in a hurry.

After nearly 2 weeks of emailing my questions and communicating electronically, I just met Jean in person today and talked about our project. She is very insightful and intelligent, and a great listener. I am very excited about working with her more. She is helping me organize first, then decorate. It may take awhile, we have a mess over here! She was exactly on time and very conscientious and thorough - a true professional, yet very personable and friendly. From what I've experienced so far, this lady is high class, top quality, but able to adapt to our middle class budget. Love, love, love her already! No complaints thus far, no complaints expected.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing depends on the scope of the project. I offer a set fee for a whole house design or large project so the client knows how to budget. For smaller projects and consulting usually an hourly rate is best.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Listening to what my client wants and providing a design plan to incorporate their wants, needs and budget.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
ASID member 2003-2018 Worked as a junior designer for a year at an established design firm before starting a design firm and retail furniture and accessory store. Studied Interior Design for a year to learn the technical side of design such as measuring, balance, scale and color. 20 years as a professional designer for residential, commercial and investment properties.
