FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have found that through Thumbtack.com that many people vying for lawn and home services expect a flat rate or hourly rate. Although there is no magic to providing these, I find that the customer is best served by allowing me to visit them and see first hand to learn more about the services they need and learn about them. It also allows me to interact with them and share how I do my work and the quality I put in, etc. Somwetimes it's tough to provide an estimate/quote without seeing a property. So, I perfer a visit at a convenient time so as to ensure that our services are quoted properly. Doug Massey D&D Lawn Care and Professional Home Services.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My father started me mowing grass and gathering leaves at the ripe age of 7. By age 9 I was mowing lawns around Mauldin for $5 to $7 just to help others and have some money for other things. My Dad was excellent in teaching me what a hard days work was and seeing the constructability of it when finished. I helped himk work on lawn equipment, cleaned gutters, washed windows, helped with his garden, worked on his old truck, helped him change the brakes and oil, clean wood floors, and assisted him and my mother in keeping their small independent grocery store stocked and spotless. He taught me to infuse quality in all I did and today I continue to hold those philosophies clese to my heart and have passed them along to my son as well. Thus, it's a passion ofmine and I enjoy each job. I get lots of exercise, maintain my weight and blood-pressure and it helps me have a stronger mentality as well.
