Introduction: We are your eyes and ears when you're not here. Since its inception, Coastal Carolina has been providing home watch inspections, preventative maintenance, contractor liaison services, and concierge service, as well as cleaning services to its clients on the Grand Strand of South Carolina. Coastal Carolina Home Watch was formed in 2005 by Jack Luber when he moved to Murrells Inlet, SC. In 1997, while he lived on the Jersey Shore, Jack purchased a beachfront condo in Surfside Beach, SC. Being 700 miles away and only able to visit his condo a few times a year made him very uncomfortable. Each time a storm warning was announced, he realized how vulnerable he was. His property management company kept an eye on common areas, but when he began to really understand that everything, from the sheetrock and in, was his responsibility, an idea began to form. At his next annual HOA meeting, he met the neighbors whose condo was directly beneath his. They met again later that day when water from a backed-up common line flooded into his neighbor's condo. Lucky to be there when it happened, and ask the right questions about where the responsibility lay, he was able to get the HOA to cover the repairs instead of him. But what if he hadn't been there when this happened? He asked himself: "Who is watching out for my best interests? Who is looking out for me?" The answers were obvious: No one. Acting as an absentee homeowners advocate was a much needed service.
