August was hired as my wedding photographer in the fall of 2012. At this time we signed a contract and he was paid in full. In February 2013 my husband and I traveled to South Carolina from Pittsburgh to meet with vendors we hired for our wedding and had an appointment with August. He knew we were only in town for the weekend and we wouldn't be back until July (for our wedding). Not only did he not show up for our meeting, he didn't answer any of our calls for 2 days. I was beginning to wonder if his business was a scam, he had our money. My wedding planner did some research for us and did ensure us that he did have a real business but did not have a good reputation. Anyway, he finally called back after we were back in Pittsburgh. He had some excuse (many more followed) and assured us that he would be better with his communication with us.
July 2013, a few days before our wedding, we met with August (he did show up for this appointment) at the venue to get acquainted with the place and give us an opportunity to discuss what sort of poses we wanted and where we wanted to get the pictures taken. There are no formal shots of me and my husband. There are only 4 different poses with me and my husband after the ceremony. We asked for a scattered picture with our wedding party, didn't get it. No close ups of the bride or groom. Of course I wasn't thinking of this on the day of, I figured he knew what he was doing and that was the purpose of our pre-wedding meeting.
Our contract included ALL pictures on a CD, preview album, large canvas photo, 3 digital picture frames, some edits to the photos, a picture slide show to music. It wasn't until November that he posted my pictures. And he only posted some of the pictures he took, the ones he decided to load. It wasn't until January that he told me he eliminated some of the items on my contract (again, he was already paid in full). He no longer sent the picture CD and he no longer did the preview album, but would offer us print credit. Well I didn't sign a contract for print credit and how was I supposed to know how much a preview album would cost (including labor) or loading all my pictures on a CD (including labor)? Finally February 28th, he loaded the rest of my pictures to Google Drive - 7 months after the wedding. Please note during these 7 months, I contacted him countless times via phone, text, email and facebook.
After seeing all of the photos, I needed to pick which photos I wanted for the canvas, slide show etc. I provided him a detailed spreadsheet with additional edits to some of the photos that were not included in his edits (one picture being one of my immediate family - how could this not be included in his edits?) I also provided him the list of pictures I wanted in the slide show and the picture I want for the canvas.
14 months after my wedding, I STILL DO NOT have the canvas photo, the slide show, the picture frames, the additional edits (which he said he would do at no additional charge because he has taken so long to get everything else done). The only thing I have are the photos on Google Drive, which he is the owner and he "shares" it with me. I haven't ordered any prints because I'm waiting for the edits to be done.
I keep trying to get a hold of him - I've left multiple messages, emails and texts. I've posted on his facebook multiple times and he keeps deleting them without responding. The posts are true, accurate and professional. At this point, he leaves me no choice but to contact an attorney.

We hired August for a beach family photo shoot. We had great conversations about the shoot and I explained that my daughter/grandson live out of the U.S. and this was a relate opportunity to haveu whole family together. The day before the shoot he called and said he had "double booked" himself. He offered to reschedule or send someone else. I had no choice to agree to the other photographer. Without making this long story longer, as soon as I paid for my selected photos he stopped responding to emails or phone calls. 3 months later I have still not recieved my photos nor has he responded to my messages. I am not only out $ 300 but I am heartbroken that I don't have my family photos.

He was horrible. He never showed up for our shoot and then decided to send someone else that also never showed up. We wasted money on the shoot as well as hair and clothes. Do not use this service!

My kids normally DREAD the photo shoots. In the past we have used many other photographers. But after this year, we will never use anyone other than August. It was almost like he was old friends with our kids. It did not take long before he had them laughing and joking and doing this high five game. Oh, he also highly recommends Huntington State park and for great reasons. That place is amazing with miles of just beach.
