A. Top 5 things to look for if your looking to hire a Personal Trainer.
1. Certification- A few respectable Certifications are ISSA,CSCS,ACSM,ACE. There are many more but a good starting point when hiring a trainer is looking for one of these.
2. Photos- Look for before and after photos of the trainers clients and if they match the results your looking for. Pictures are very hard to get from clients if your a personal trainer so don't base this solely on your decision, but it helps.
3. Reviews & Testimonials- Look for a good amount of reviews on the personal trainer and reviews from people that use their first and last name is key. Anyone can add a fake review but not just anyone can use someone else's name. Take Google Places reviews with a grain of salt, these reviews can be from a competitor who simply wants to make the other trainer look bad.
4. Fit Trainer- Make sure the trainer you are hiring either was or is in shape and practices what they preach. If the trainer you are looking to hire has never been in shape it's like asking directions from point A to point B from someone who has never been to B.
5. Years of Experience- The likely hood you have found a great personal trainer who can get you to your fitness goals increases dramatically when you seek a long term passionate trainer versus one who has chosen this career as a hobby or for the money. Passion towards any endeavor means caring and caring about making a change in peoples lives is what personal training is all about. Look for the passionate trainer.
A. What area of fitness do they specialize in. Does the trainer specialize in sports specific training, if so what sports? Does the personal trainer focus on strength, weight loss, youth training?
Many trainers will focus on one specific sport or area of expertise, it's good to know where their passion is. Passion about fitness is why most of us became personal trainers and the more passionate they are towards your specific goals the more likely you are to succeed in them.
A. If I don't know it, I will learn it. Continuing education in our field is key to helping clients achieve their goals. No ones goals are exactly the same and no ones body adapts at the same speed or in the same manner to weight training as the next person. All of my clients achieve their goals to go on to do things they wish they could have done but never had enough belief in themselves to do. I achieve all of my own personal goals and I believe anyone can.
A. Yes I do. It's called an article titled Megativity: How to use one's positive and negative thoughts at the correct time during an exercise to push them past mental barriers. What the mind believes the body achieves.
A. I'm not just a personal trainer. I aim to change the fitness industry with machines and fitness apparel that don't currently exist. I would like to have my name be known for any and everything fitness when you hear Hawk Fitness.
