Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. The advice that I would give would be to make sure you know the acreage of your yard, as oppose to the square footage. This helps most lawn care professionals to determine a better estimate. Also, be sure to expect from most lawn care professional to roughly pay about $30 an hour. Most lawn care professionals prefer not to take less than a $30 yard. Purdy Grass will take a yard less than $30 as long as it's within our areas that we service.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. I am still employed as a full-time MTA bus operator but I love mowing lawns and I get off my regular job early enough that I can still work during the week. On weekends mowing lawns is all I do. My business is family and locally owned in Tennessee. The business includes myself, my 15 year old son, and my cousin. My wife handles all my bookkeeping for the business. Hopefully, in about 10 to 15 years years I can retire from MTA and still have my lawn care business up and running. I have even volunteered on neighbors yard to help out in the community. I honestly believe lawn mowing was my calling.
