FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Every day. Yes, I read 2 or 3 trade magazines a month, take a class (just about to take a class on HVAC repair). Attend home shows, spend untold amount of time reading and participating in online forums. And if I'm going to start a job doing something I've not personally done often, I'll research it online and/or talk with those who have done it more than I have.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I came upon this career after having been taught to first build a log cabin, then "regular houses" as it were. As my daughters entrance to the world was eminent (6 mths) I changed gears completely and went back to school for my AAS in manufacturing engineering and proceeded to practice in that field, only to discover the the free trade agreement was continually working against me, and gave it up out of frustration. After speaking to a friend in Charlotte NC, he invited me to comedown and give his crew a hand remodeling some 200 apt's. I accepted and the rest is history.
