Suzanne is the best! Her creative ideas for my daughter were outstanding. My photographs turned out better than I could have ever imagined! I will use her to capture my precious memories time and again.

Suzanne photographed my son as a newborn and also at six months old. She is extremely creative, so patient with uncooperative babies, and really captured my baby's sweet expressions in such a natural way. I absolutely love her work, and her timeframe was extraordinarily fast. We will definitely be using Suzanne's services in the future when we are in town again!

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. My best-seller is the Beautiful Baby: First Year program. This all-inclusive plan can take you from maternity to the first birthday, capturing every milestone along the way. Do you need birth announcements, gift prints, calendars, or canvas? Many exquisite products can be added along the way. The plan is customizable to be sure you get the best choice for your family. At the end of the program, you have a year of memories to hold and admire. These can go into a keepsake album or wall art pieces. Individual sessions are also available.

Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.

A. I recently worked with a lovely family who brought in their first new baby at five days old. Dad was a baseball player, so we created a special canvas for them which incorporated his sweet sleeping son cradled in his well-worn ball glove. I loved the contrast between the weathered glove and this sweet new skin-both having special meaning for this new father.
I have just finished a Beautiful Baby: First Year plan with another family. Their sweet boy has grown up right before my camera! They brought a hand-knitted toy that was given to him before he was born. We took photos with that little animal from the very first maternity session to the birthday finale. Those photos made a wonderful spread for their baby album- watching him get bigger and bigger next to the beloved keepsake.
On another note, I had an opportunity recently to do a commercial shoot for Katie Kalsi handbags, which was a fun and different experience than my day-to-day work. I liked having an opportunity to stretch my craft in a new direction as well.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. When looking for a photographer, be sure to look through the portfolio. Excellent photographers will still have different styles and visions. Ask yourself if these are the types of images you want to keep forever. The entire process will be smoother if you are a good fit for each other.
Check for credentials. Photographers can be members of different professional organizations which show an investment in the field. Not everyone with a camera is going to be in business next year. I am a member of PPA, or Professional Photographers of America. Other organizations might be WPPI, or NACPA.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. How do you plan to use your portraits? A sweet collection above baby's crib? A framed gallery grid in the hallway? A show-stopping conversation piece for the foyer? Wall art is my specialty. I love for clients to provide a photo of the area where they would like to use their portraits. This allows us to create the most amazing custom wall art with perfect finishes, designs, and framing to fit your home and personality. If I know how we will be displaying the photos, I can do a better job of shooting the right type of images. A well-planned session will bring you smiles for years to come!

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Q. When do I book a newborn session?
A. Soon! I take a limited number of newborn clients based on due dates. The best time to do sleepy, curled up baby portraits is between day 5-10. These must be set up in advance to be prepared. Please don't wait until your baby is born- it will be too late! It makes me so sad to turn away new mommies who did not book a photographer before delivery. Please call early in your second trimester if at all possible.
