Both of my children take piano lessons with Jonathan Gaertner at Mobile Music Academy and we couldn't be happier. He makes music fun and motivates them with obtainable goals. They look forward to their lessons every week.

So far so good! My 7 year old son is doing well with the lessons and connecting very well personally with Kyle, the instructor. My other 2 kiddos are watching from a distance and expressing an interest as well. My oldest is actually asking to do the lessons when he brother is finished practicing. We are only 3 weeks in,but all in all it looks like things are working out well. We are very pleased with how things are going.

I was contacted almost immediately, and all email and phone exchanges were very pleasant. MMA was able to hook me up with a guitar teacher within a week, and not only has he listened to my request, my kids really like him. I highly recommend!

My experience with Mobile Music Academy has been very good. They set up my lesson in a timely manner and matched me with a talented and personable guitar teacher. My lessons are challenging and fun at the same time.

Mobile Music Academy and Jonathan's desire to meet our specific needs has been wonderful. We have loved our lessons. My son has improved so much in such a little time, and my daughter has loved beginning her lessons. Thank you.

Jonathan has taught our two sons piano since 2006. That they have continued is a testimony to his effectiveness. He is not a one size fits all teacher, and adapts his method to the ability and interest of the student. He has always been honest, accommodating and punctual. I value having our teacher come to our home for lessons.

So far, so good. I've only had one lesson so far, but Warren has been professional, friendly, and helpful. I have already learned a lot.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. The most common job we do is a 30 minute private lesson for a musical instrument. We also provide 45 minute and 60 minute lessons.

In addition to the private lessons we have done group lessons and well as class lessons in some schools. We are very flexible so if you have a odd situation we just might be able to come up with a solution.

The biggest thing is that we do the driving. So, it doesn't matter where the lesson needs to be, we will get there and do it. We just need the setting to be a good place to teach a lesson!

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Make sure you use a reputable company. Use companies that do background checks on their instructors and have a lot of experience. That will give you peace of mind before bringing some random person into your home to teach you or your children.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. There are a lot of music instructors out there, some are good most are ok and some are absolutely terrible. Just because someone has taught piano for 30 years does not make them good, they could just be really experienced at teaching a bad lesson. Someone can be a phenomenal guitar player but that does not make them a great guitar teacher.

Our goal is to choose teachers who actually want to teach their instrument. Not a professional musician who is trying to make some cash while they are waiting on their big break.

The teachers we choose have the heart of a teacher and that makes all the difference.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. How long have you done this?
If it is a company do you do background checks on your instructors?
Do you belong to the BBB, if so, what is your rating?
Do you make me sign a contract or have hidden fees?

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. First, we find the best teachers who love to teach music and then we send them to the students home to teach the lesson.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. We get to help enhance the music education in our community. We teach children the joy of playing a musical instrument!

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. What your rates? We ask where they live and give them the rate for their area. Our rates are very competitive.

Are the instructors background checked? Yes, every instructor goes through a thorough interview process and a background check.

What times do you have available? We have multiple instructors so we can usually schedule into your preferred time spot. It is always helpful to have a couple of times in mind though.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I have played piano all of my life, I have taught piano for the better part of the last 18 years. I really enjoy teaching the piano but it is tough to make a good living just doing that. I also had some other parts of my personality that I wanted fulfill.

I started Mobile Music Academy as a way to fulfill those other parts (running a business) while I can do what I love.

I also wanted to make a difference in my community and I think MMA does that. We have several students that would not be getting lessons if we did not come to the home. That is probably the most fulfilling part of this.

I also get to help some of these young teachers out there who are really good at what they do but struggle to find students.

All in all this is the most rewarding experience of my life and I could not be happier.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. Have you won any awards? Yes, we have been voted Best Music Lessons company by the readers of Nashville Parent every year since 2008.
