FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been interested in photography since about the age of 10, when I received my first Polaroid Sun 600 camera. That year I also borrowed a Canon AE-1 and spent hours in a darkroom printing my own black and white photographs. Later on, I worked for six years as a photographer in the old time portrait studio in the Opryland U.S.A. theme park. Following this position, I worked in corporate office jobs that were not fulfilling for the next 13 years. I knew that I needed to get back to doing something that I connected with, and I ultimately went back to school in 2009 to pursue a degree in the field, graduating with a B.S. in Photography from Middle Tennessee State University in May 2012.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I wish that customers more universally knew that photography requires more than just quality equipment, and that the skill of the photographer is the most critical ingredient to a desirable product. People frequently opt to have someone they know photograph an important event in lieu of hiring a photographer because they think it will be good enough. Only when they ultimately receive a substandard photo package do they value what the professional could have offered, but by that point it is too late.
