FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a registered Interior Designer, I am required to take several hours of continuing education classes every year. It really helps to keep up to date on what the public expects from our profession. A lot of the time, safety, sustainable, and wheelchair accessible issues are taught in these classes. We also learn about all the new and great products available so that our clients have access to cutting edge design.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would suggest hiring only a registered Interior Designer. This means this person has went to school for design, has a degree, and has passed the NCIDQ. A registered Interior Designer is aware of safety issues as well as proportion and scale. A registered Interior designer may cost more hourly but they will help you avoid mistakes that are costly and time consuming later.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Sometimes clients are surprised how much we can help them with. We don't just pick out pillows and accessories, but we love to help with the finishes in a room! We spec paint, granite, appliances, etc. It's really best to have the Interior Designer involved in the beginning in order to avoid costly changes later.
