    Shawn Michael Salon has a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. The stylists are helpful and know what they are doing. You walk in a new client and they treat you like they have known you for years. It's a new salon but I wont go anywhere else. They have my business! Nothing better than a glass of wine during my hair color apt.

    Had a wonderful experience at Shawn Michael Salon! The staff is delightful. The salon is modern and super clean! Had a spa pedicure and brow wax. Felt like I had a mini vacation. Already scheduled my next visit!

    I really like the slick, clean, and well defined look of the salon. I appreciate the fact that Michael & team understands my time is valuable and ensure I get my services complete in a timely fashion. I can attest that you may come as a client, but you will definitely leave feeling like a guest and sooner or later a friend! Sort of like Cheers, the show that highlighted the bar where everyone knows your name! My daughter and I enjoy each visit.

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Most common we provide haircuts and pedicures to our clients. Color is always a passion for any stylist whether being applied to their hair or nails.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Educate yourself on each establishment you walk in to. Check and make sure the establishment is up to your standard of cleanliness and always feel free to ask questions. Any salon that cares about their clients wont mind answering any and all of your questions.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Just because you pay a higher price for a service or product doesn't always mean its better. You should always be pleased and happy with what you have done otherwise you should speak up and say so. It's important that you leave a happy client and are 100% satisfied because you are the one that has to wear your hair color or style.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We have a combined total of 45 years of experience between our stylists and nail technicians. We offer quality services at reasonable prices and are conveniently located at 183 and Pond Springs Road. We offer a variety of services from haircuts to color, manicures and pedicures and facial waxing.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Being able to transform someone's look. To enhance their natural beauty and to build their self confidence. We are all friends here and that shows in our work.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. Helping people feel and look their best is what we do as service professionals. Once we had a client that came in looking pretty rough. She had been to several salons that day who treated her like she was just another body to move through the salon. When she walked in, we greeted her and asked what we could do for her. We offered her a glass of wine and started talking while we worked on her hair. Apparently, her husband had passed away a few days earlier and she was distraught. All she wanted was to feel needed and like she was with friends. By the time she was done with her color and cut, she was smiling and felt like a new woman. Still sad but able to face the world.

That is what makes our jobs worth doing! Being able to provide our clients with a friendship and a place to come to be themselves and relax.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. We stay current on the latest trends, colors, and styling ideas. It is mandatory for cosmetologists to take continuing education for their license to be renewed every two years but we take extra classes, do webinars, attend hair shows. It's our responsibility to keep up with our industry.
