Paul was very personable, easy to work with, and very helpful. He was very patient with me and explained things to me very well. I like working with him and will continue.

I've been a student under Paul Clancy for 4 years now. In that time he has taught me not only how to play chords on the guitar, but how to make music while playing. I started playing because I could sing but I wanted to do more, Paul showed me these amazing strumming patterns which brought the song I showed him to life. And when I told him I wanted to play classical guitar and audition with classical guitar for college (with the audition day being 9 months away and me having never played classical guitar before) he told me "It's going to be hard and focused work since we only have nine months, but I know that you can do it". He supported me through think and thin and taught me everything I needed to know. And nine months later I walked into my audition with confidence and made it into the classical guitar program at the University of North Texas. Paul is an excellent teacher and mentor, with years and years of training and experience under his belt, but he is also a wonderful friend who has guided me, and many others, to learning how to play classical guitar, acoustic or electric guitar, banjo and even ukulele and making beautiful music while playing. Paul is one of my greatest friends and one if the wisest and respected men I know. Thank you for all you've done Paul. :)

Over the past 4 years my daughter, who is now 17, went from being a person who played guitar 'okay' to being accepted into one of Texas' best collegiate music school for classical guitar. And this she has done under the watchful tutelage of Paul Clancy. He is truly a master teacher and I am thankful he came into our lives. My daughter simply adores him as a person, too. In her eyes he is '2nd Gandpa'. Paul teaches standard acoustic, electric, and classical guitar (and even banjo and ukelele) to children barely able to tie their shoes and he teaches folks who tie their grandkids shoes. Paul Clancy teaches because he loves music and people and wants to share the joy of music.

I have been taking lessons from Paul now for over 2 years and I have to say I am amazed at what that guy has done. After a 20 year rest I decided to start playing guitar again and Paul has brought me to a level I would have never thought I could reach. I would recommend Paul to any age person that wants to learn the guitar.

We like to keep Paul to ourselves so we won't tell you how great he is. We won't mention how wonderful he is with children and how patient and kind and caring he is. We won't tell you how knowledgable he is concerning the guitar and how easily he coaches the best out of his students. We won't mention that his students range in age from the very young to the very old. Nor will we tell you that he just happens to be a great human being who you need to know.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The first thing a potential music student should watch out for when finding an instructor is stability. Is this an instructor who has been around for a while, does he/she have referrals, what type of experience, etc. Although it is good to switch instructors from time to time a stable teacher / student relationship is an important key to a succesful learning experience.
