Chad is a GC that focuses on pools. First the pros... he is focused on getting the job done, he has the contacts to get it done, he will always talk to you by phone or in person and he is a reasonable guy about issues. He also has good ideas about the design of the pool and I'm really glad he suggested a couple of things that we would not have thought of ourselves and now I absolutely love. We got a lot of quotes and his was in the ballpark of most the others and ended up costing us about average. The cons... he is not a stickler for details (maybe an understatement), he will always choose what is cheaper for him over what is better for you and he isn't really that "present" while work is being done so he doesn't really even know what is happening all the time. We felt we were the ones managing subs at times. We were very frustrated a couple of times during this project... and I think we will see over time if some of the short cuts come back to haunt us (not enough rebar in the tanning shelf... did not put rebar into the pool walls at all which we spent considerable time verifying was sub-par work by speaking with 3 other contractors... one a trusted friend from my home town in Georgia). He also stated he would put in some bronze fixtures for our water feature and he ended up putting in plastic ones after all. We had an issue with the coping stone he bought (deeply scratched) and ended up paying ourselves and shopping ourselves for a better material. I think 3.5 stars is about right but the site doesn't allow that so went to 4. I will say that our pool, overall, looks fantastic and we're happy its done. If you choose him, I think you should buy all your own materials and really take the time to shop for them yourself. As in any project, the more you can really nail down exactly what you want to happen the better the result.

Chad Sweet was one of 4 swimming pool companies that we interviewed to resurface our pool and spa. He's a great salesperson - he talked us into using him and we regret it. He was on top of everything in the beginning - trying to get our business. He even discussed using him as our monthly pool service after he installed the new pool equipment and resurfaced the pool. He was even ready to start that very weekend.
Once he started the renovation - things changed. He wanted more money as a deposit then he initially stated in our initial discussions. We were able to get him to stick to the initial agreement. We didn't feel like he was that interested in doing the best job possible - his attitude was very casual. Once the pool was finished, we hired him to maintain our pool on a monthly basis. That's when it went down hill from there. Initially, when were discussing using him for the renovation, he stated that he had lots of customers in our area and that he would give us a good deal on monthly service. Well, it turns out, he didn't have any customers in our area and the deal he gave us was more expensive than our normal pool service. For a few months, we never knew if he was cleaning our pool because he never left any evidence that he was even there. No card was left (he stated that they had run out of cards). The trash can we leave out by our pool never contained any leaves or debris, so we wonder where he put it? Finally, he told us that it wasn't worthwhile to service our pool because it just wasn't cost effective for him to come out to our area in Round Rock (when he lives in Lakeway) because we were his only customer in the area. To top it off - he told us on October 1st that effective THAT DAY (October 1st), he could no longer be able to service our pool! No notice whatsoever.
Also, we had problems with some of our equipment and he said that he had scheduled a guy to come out and address it. He never did. My husband has emailed him several times, but there has absolutely been no response.
We have gone back to our old pool company and regret that we weren't loyal to them because they are excellent and we had been using them for 6 years. It was Chad's smooth talking that got us to change our minds and we very much regret it.
Do not use Chad Sweet and Sunset Pool Service unless you want someone who is a salesperson and not interested in giving you quality and dependable service
