FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The initial client consultation is free. Thereafter I charge either by the hour or a flat rate based on a percentage of the overall budget. This depends on the scope of the project and client requirements. Billing is usually bi-weekly and I keep itemized timesheets so the client can see what I've been working on.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to kick things off with an initial (free) face-to-face meeting, or if this is not possible a phone conversation. This is to both get acquainted with the client and to better understand their requirements. During that meeting I explain the overall design process and any key stages. Once the scope of works have been discussed I deliver a proposed timeline outlining the design phases and a 'terms of agreement' contract. Both documents can be adjusted to meet the client's expectations or address any concerns they might have.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied architecture in the UK and then worked for several years in the industry, mostly on residential renovations and community-led projects. I then moved to China where I worked in architecture and interior design on projects ranging from small remodels to historic restoration to large-scale commercial projects. Several years ago I moved to the States where I now work in high-end residential interior design.
